Webtrends

Add Webtrends to your product for your customers, and give your AI agents governed access to it.

Webtrends is one of the older names in web analytics and it survives in a specific niche: reporting on web properties and, notably, on SharePoint and Microsoft 365, where the question is which internal pages and documents people actually use. Its model is report driven rather than event driven. A profile defines what is being measured, reports are assembled from dimensions and measures, and an integration extracts report data rather than streaming raw hits. So your product asks for an aggregate over a period, which makes date range and granularity the parameters that matter, and there is nothing to subscribe to. One thing worth stating plainly: Webtrends Optimize, the testing and personalisation product, was spun out as a separate company in 2018 and is not this. fastn holds each account's credentials and follows the API.

In your product

Embedded for your customers. Per-tenant auth, no per-customer code, maintained by fastn.

Let each customer connect their own Webtrends account so reporting appears in your product without a scheduled export.

Read report data over a date range so your product shows a trend rather than a single number somebody screenshotted.

Read the profiles, dimensions and measures a customer configured, since two accounts rarely measure the same things.

Pull SharePoint and Microsoft 365 usage reporting where a customer runs it, so intranet activity sits beside the rest of their data.

For your AI agents

Governed, audited access for the agents you build, through the MCP server.

An agent reports which pages gained or lost traffic over a period from the customer's own profile.

An agent explains what a measure counts by reading its definition instead of assuming the usual one.

An agent compares two date ranges and states the granularity it used to do it.

Example prompt

Compare traffic to these pages against the same period last month and tell me what moved most.

Set up Webtrends in 4 steps

  1. 01Enable the Webtrends connector in your fastn dashboard.
  2. 02Have each customer supply credentials for their own Webtrends account so reporting stays theirs.
  3. 03Map the profiles, reports, dimensions and measures your product uses, and decide the date ranges and granularity you request.
  4. 04Call it from your product and expose the same connection to your agents through the MCP gateway.

Why teams use the Webtrends integration

What you get by embedding it with fastn instead of building it yourself.

  • Ship a Webtrends integration without building it. Your customers connect their own Webtrends account inside your product and work their records, datasets and fields there, with no per-customer code on your side.
  • Handle the part that actually costs time: schemas differ per customer and change without notice, and volumes can be large. fastn owns the auth, token refresh, rate limits, pagination and breaking-change fixes, so a Webtrends update is not your on-call problem.
  • One integration serves your product and your agents. The same governed Webtrends connection powers in-product features and gives AI agents scoped, audited access, so you read and write your customers' data where it already lives without wiring it twice.

Webtrends integration FAQ

How do I add a Webtrends integration to my product?

Enable the Webtrends connector in your fastn dashboard, then let each customer authenticate their own Webtrends account. fastn handles the OAuth flow, token storage and refresh per tenant, so there is no Webtrends client code in your app and no per-customer branch in your codebase. Setup is 4 steps.

Do my customers each connect their own Webtrends account?

Yes. Every connection is scoped to the individual customer, so each authorises their own Webtrends account and only ever sees their own records, datasets and fields. That per-tenant isolation is the point of an embedded integration: you support the long tail of customer setups without maintaining an integration per customer.

Can AI agents use this Webtrends integration?

Yes. The same connection is exposed to your agents through the fastn MCP gateway, with permissions scoped per tenant and every call audited. An agent reports which pages gained or lost traffic over a period from the customer's own profile.

Who maintains the Webtrends integration?

fastn does. When Webtrends changes an endpoint, deprecates a field or alters its auth, the fix lands in the connector rather than in your backlog, and your customers' connections keep working.

Does the Webtrends integration adapt when a customer's schema changes?

Schema and field mapping is configuration per customer, so a change on their side is a mapping update rather than a code change and a release on yours.

How are large Webtrends reads handled?

Pagination and throttling are handled for you, and initial backfills are rate-limited so a large import does not exhaust a customer's API allowance.

What can I build with the Webtrends integration?

A common starting point: let each customer connect their own Webtrends account so reporting appears in your product without a scheduled export. Teams also use it for the other use cases listed above, and expose it to agents for governed reads and writes.

How much does the Webtrends integration cost?

It is included. Pricing is based on connected accounts, not on how many connectors you enable, so adding Webtrends does not change your per-connector cost. You can start free with 3 connected accounts.
